Some years ago, out of personal interest, I began to research just how many places in the world were named Manchester. I had imagined half a dozen or so but the more I delved the more Manchesters came to light until I had "discovered" over fifty. Each has its own story to tell and none more so than my home town of Manchester, England which can date its origin to Roman times. I researched all the Manchesters using reference books, letters (over two hundred!), the telephone, emails and the internet. The information gathered on each Manchester is collected in the book "A World of Manchesters"
